Lightning FAQ
Yes, this scooter has been tested for safety and is eligible for license application. All our electric scooters are DOT-approved and come with complete documentation for registration. If you need any assistance with registering, feel free to contact us.
It depends on your local DMV regulations. In California, for example, you can register it as a moped since its brake horsepower is less than 4 hp and its top speed, as indicated on the MCO, is less than 30 mph.
The scooter is rated IPX6 for waterproofing, making it suitable for outdoor use, even in heavy rain. However, we recommend wiping off water droplets after riding in the rain and parking it under a roof to maximize its lifespan.
Not yet, but we’ll be releasing a version with a removable battery soon. Stay tuned for updates!
If you register your scooter as a motorcycle, you can unlock the speed. Follow these steps:
- Hold the right brake handle and turn the throttle all the way down.
- Turn on the scooter and hold the left brake handle.
- Release the right brake handle and the throttle.
- Turn the throttle all the way down twice.
